How it is all started

It all started back in 2006. I was serving tables in one of the local restaurants in DC area. It wasn’t a bad place to work at, but it wasn’t something that I liked and enjoyed doing. Being immigrant student I was on a student visa which does not allow full time job at any place except college campus, so even my restaurant job was illegal. My future was rather humble than bright and shiny. I was by myself in another country, my parents and relatives were thousands miles away, not being able to help me. The money was tough; especially after several dental treatments which have drained my savings. So problems started to snowball. I wasn’t making enough to pay for both my college and living. So I chose second option and dropped-off college. Because of dropping-off college I was not able to renew my student visa and as a result joined troops of illegal immigrants. So now things became even more fun, as an illegal immigrant you can’t get any real job, any type of id, enrol in another college etc, list of privileges goes on… So I was facing opportunity to work my humble job for the next century, saving money for a layer to be able to get my papers. Now, after several years, analyzing things I understand that it was great experience that I needed to go through. But at that time I wasn’t too happy about it. Like many of you, I reached point in my life when I desperately needed more money. I was inclined to have stream of income that would allow me to pay a layer and have acceptable lifestyle; rather than working more on my “exiting” job. So I decided to pursue online business ventures.
First steps to online success
There’s SO much you need to learn about eBusiness before you have to spend a DIME. And I have learned it hard way. I started from eBay; I was selling old stuff from my house. But soon I ran out of stuff to sell and realized that you can not make living from that for the same reason (the stuff to sell eventually ends). So my next step was search of the source of goods to sell. And there I got scammed the first time. It was BIG for me. I spend 2500$ for eBook and some software that suppose to “BOOST” my sales on eBay and “Reveal” all the power sellers secrets. As you can guess I just flushed my money. I was UPSET. But I was still trying to get my way to financial freedom. So I decided to open online store to sell products from drop shippers. And there I got scammed the second time. Online company offered to develop a web store for me and even populate it with pre-selected products from their drop shipping directory, just for 2700$. All I left to do was to confirm orders and count money on my bank account. NICE. But guess what. Nobody wanted to buy my products because the prices were so high. Amazon was selling same goods for half the price. It was not real drop shipper, but a middle man that was making his buck from fools like me. After all I still didn’t give up my hope to make money online. Finally I come across the right companies that do what they claim. My first treasure was Worldwide Brands from Chris Malta. (Worldwide Brands Review) Second was Wealthy Affiliate (Wealthy Review) from Kyle and Carson.
It is time to hustle
It wasn’t like I instantly start banking thousands of dollars after I bought Worldwide Brands and Wealthy Affiliate membership. In fact, when I first started WA (Wealthy Affiliate) course, it took me almost 6 weeks to get my first sale, because I had to overcome obstacles as poor English and bad grammar. As you can see English is not my first language and back when I joined WA it was bad… I mean BAD. I was ok in conversational English, but my technical English sucked. I barely understood 50% of what I was reading and had to sit with online dictionary translating whole bunch of words to understand what it was about. My grammar was not better. I’ll admit, my grammar is not the greatest now. It used to be atrocious. I do try to learn and get better each day. To this day, I really don’t know how to punctuate all well either. But I refused to give up because of insignificant obstacles as bad English and poor grammar. I had my share of flops and projects that failed. But every time I made a mistake it made me smarter. I guess I was following one of the Thomas A. Edison quotes:
“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.”
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”
And my persistence was rewarded. I found something that I enjoy doing and very rewarding money-wise at the same time.
What this blog is about
Back in the beginning of 2008 I created PowerOfComparison.com(PoC) as one of my first Internet marketing projects and a test platform for knowledge I was learning about SEO (Search Engine optimization), PPC(Pay Per Click) advertising, Social Media, copy writing and other aspects of Internet marketing. Since I was learning so much about ways to make money online, different tools, programs and courses that were available, this website became reflection of my progress and what was working for my business and what wasn’t.

My purpose for PowerOfComparison is to provide you with insights needed to succeed online. Here, you’ll find reviews of many programs and helpful services to start your own successful internet business or just to find the right information. It will help you to get started or point you in a right direction. PowerOfComparison is my attempt to shorten the learning curve and prevent people from getting ripped off.

My Challenge For You
Whether you’re a student, stay at home parent, internet marketer looking for ways to increase commissions or person working 9-5 job that you don’t really like and enjoy doing I challenge you to start earning additional income online. Without shadow of a doubt I am telling you there is an opportunity for everyone to make significant amounts of money online doing what you love to do. Now with wide expansion and strengthening of Search Engines, powerful local search, social media every business, large or small, wants to have online presence. They are not large enterprises anymore, your local bakery, hair saloon, painting gallery, small restaurant they are using Internet as major channel for driving sales and customers and more to come. This means billions and billions of dollars will be spend online by consumers and you can have your share of this pie. “But how I am going to start” – you are probably thinking. The problem with Worldwide Brands, SMC and places like this is that when you join, you join a market with a million other people doing the same thing with the same products, …you buy into competition. During the market research phase, if you find something that you would like to sell, you then find a never-ending supply of the same item(s) on eBay and/or Amazon from hundreds of other people trying to sell the very same thing from the very same place, …and that makes pricing so competitive, eBay and Amazon are practically the only people making decent money. You begin to wonder if it’s not just a platform where by WWB can make money by buddying up with the big sites then and selling you ‘coaching’ on the side. As you mentioned, name brand stuff that’s sure to sell can’t be aquired thru a place like WWB because it usually requires huge buys-ins, a brick and mortar store front, or other requirements that are out of reach for most starting a home based business. WWB is a good informational resource for people that are starting a home based business from scratch, but even with a huge list of suppliers, niche markets and profits are still hard to come by. I bought a lifetime membership and sometimes I wonder if I would make more money being an affiliate rather than a retailer.

Yes, you are right, when you enter the market there always will be competition (and that is good – it is an indication of money in the market ) but there are not millions of people selling the same products. Usually there are 3-5 strong payers in the market that hold most of the market share; the rest ones – are one day -players that come and go. This applies to 99% of niches.
As far as your concern about “…you then find a never-ending supply of the same item(s) on eBay and/or Amazon from hundreds of other people trying to sell the very same thing from the very same place…” If you’re selling on eBay you can easily beat 90% of competitors by choosing the right selling strategy and doing market research. On average I was able to sell my products 25% more profitable than some regular Joe in the same market selling the same exact product by using eBay market research tools like HammerTap and TeraPeak. By analyzing eBay market information they tell you what’s working and what’s not, give you an exact information about what you need to do to sell more profitable. Which sales copy is working for your product, what day and time you need to start your auction, which keywords you need to put in the title to attract buyers, what your best starting price should be etc. The rest of your competitors don’t have that insight information…
You don’t have to have the lowest price in the market in order to make money: eBay and Amazon are not the only two places where you can sell. There are gazillion of independent online stores that are selling same items as eBay and Amazon and they don’t have lower prices but they are still profitable. Look at MyWeddingFavors.com for example – you can find exact same items on Amazon cheaper. In order to win a customer they’re putting unique twist like “free engraving on your Champaign glasses” or “get free… when you buy this…” they are not just selling wedding favors – they are selling “unique wedding favors that reflect your personal style”. People love to feel special and when they feel special they much more likely to buy from you.
I think, it is entirely possible that WWB compensated for referring sellers to eBay, Yahoo, Amazon. But at the same time they negotiated a deal with them, so you’re getting value out of it too. I think, referring person to a good product that is working is worth compensation. (There are a lot of folks out there that will try to sell you piece of s##t wrapped in golden foil, just to get commissions). So, giving that most online products have affiliate programs, I figure, it’s better to put the money in pockets of those who’re trying to share the good, than to leave the money to the dishonest affiliates. I think you shouldn’t endorse anything for money that you wouldn’t endorse for free. You may wish to adopt a similar philosophy.
We, as online entrepreneurs, should use the best of both worlds so if you’re selling a product that is good why not make more money by promoting it as affiliate also? There are many ways to make easy money online and the information provided above is true, however you should also look for other characters that leads to a good way to make easy money online. Such as how much does it cost to be a part of the program? A good program will offer a free trial period.
Also look for the training and team work involved with a program. You want to find companies or groups that work together as a team. The fact is if you try to start an online business to make easy money online and go it alone you will more than likely fail.
97% of internet marketers fail because of this one single fact. Look for companies or systems that provide advertising resources and take them up on it. You want to do this because the people providing these have done all the testing for you to ensure they are providing good valid resources (remember they only succeed if you succeed so it is in their best interest to provide you with good info and resources). If you do this you should be fine and will start making real money online!

Indeed, the Internet can be a good source of income. You don’t have to sell a product if you don’t want. But if you want to sell, you can simply look for a company that can help you. If you are a newbie, you can focus on the skills that you have, and if you are good with people then you can start creating your own networking business.
I started business with a product in mind and it is still doing great today but since I learned so many tricks and strategies as I grow in business, I decided to help train and teach people with my expertise. In this way, I would be able to have a network whose members are supportive of each other.
